Little Reckonings (out for submittal)
A collection of twelve short stories about ordinary people forced into self-examination and transformation by shocking, sometimes violent, events. In “Engagement,” an alligator stuns a young woman into questioning her upcoming marriage. In “Field and Sky,” a former soccer prodigy re-discovers himself after reconciling with his alcoholic mother. In “Rachel Clinic,” a suburban mother processes her son’s anorexia by engaging in body suspension.
According to writer and editor, John Mauk, the stories in Little Reckonings explore themes of “family implosion, strained histories, and individuals trying like crazy to find purpose.”
Affections Light and Deep (in revision)
A book of linked short stories about a young woman who, over the course of a decade, discovers herself through friendships with five nurturing, sensitive, hilarious men.
